Our hospital

Gilgit Eye Hospital opened its doors to patients in 1995. Since then we have built up a dedicated team of almost 30 staff. Our range of medical services to the people of northern areas continues to expand.

At present we have 3 slitlamp microscope clinic rooms, and 2 operation theatres. The larger of these theatres has two tables for cataract surgery and the smaller theatre is set up for tear duct reconstruction surgery (DCR's) and minor procedures. We have been fortunate to receive a donated modern Zeiss Omni S4 surgical microscope with a teaching head from New Zealand. In theatre we perform both ECCE and phaco cataract procedures. This year we have started doing the sutureless ECCE procedure after Dr Qaim attended a CBM sponsored PICO workshop in Peshawar.

In our clinic we have both an 810 diode laser for diabetic retinal disease and a Yag laser for cataract post-operative procedures and anterior eye work. We also have a fully operational optical laboratory making glasses on site and a fully stocked pharmacy.

Appologies for the lack of photo's but this site will be further updated shortly.
